Curved paths are more interesting
As a youth William Prechter grew up living next door to his grandparents. His grandfather happened to be a retired Chemical Engineer who also happened to have a basement /workshop filled with tools of all sorts. This is where it all began, spending countless hours in the shop working on and building projects of all types. The mind of the engineer forming, with the watchful eyes of his grandfather offering help and insight where needed.
These early days in the workshop along with the encouragement of his elders led to an almost predetermined future as an engineer. William Prechter graduated Magna Cum Laude with a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Sacramento State University.
From here the path began to curve. With a love for the area he grew up in, and a passion for being in the outdoors, William placed an outdoor lifestyle ahead of career pursuits. Little did he know doing this would later open the door to meeting and working for a local civil engineering firm. Working as a civil engineer provided just the right balance between lifestyle and career. After working for two years William successfully passed the Professional Civil Engineer exams in 2005 and began working for himself.
William Prechter’s experience is mostly in structural design, working on several hundred different projects of widely varying scope and size, conventional stick buildings, to SIP structures, to ICF homes, with a huge range of complexity between. Williams favorite projects to work on are one’s which are highly site integrated, smallish footprint, well detailed and structurally complex.
